3Peace Studios & Point Loma Playhouse launches its 2026–2027 Signature Series with one of musical theatre's most daring and iconic masterpieces. Directed and choreographed by Award-winning artist Jailyn Osborne, this bold new production will unleash Cabaret through explosive, movement-driven storytelling, breathtaking choreography, and fearless performances that blur the line between spectacle and truth.
Produced by Kara Tuckfield, with musical direction by husband and wife team Erin Vanderhyde Gross and Chris Gross, both acclaimed performers and music directors in the San Diego theatre community, this production brings together an exceptional creative team dedicated to creating an unforgettable theatrical experience.

Conflicts / Rehearsal Attendance & Stipend Info
At 3Peace Studios & Point Loma Playhouse, we believe exceptional theatre and equitable practices can and should exist together. We reject the idea that artistic excellence requires unnecessary barriers.
We know many artists balance careers, multiple jobs, school, family responsibilities, health concerns, and life's unexpected moments. We don't believe those realities should automatically prevent talented performers from creating meaningful art. Having conflicts does not automatically disqualify you from being cast.
What we do ask for is honesty, communication, and professionalism. Every conflict is considered individually, as different roles require different levels of rehearsal. If you're upfront with us, we'll do everything we reasonably can to find solutions that honor both your commitments and the artistic needs of the production.
Make no mistake: our commitment to accessibility never comes at the expense of artistic excellence. We hold ourselves - and our artists - to a high standard because we believe audiences deserve unforgettable theatre. We simply believe there is more than one path to achieving it.
Our goal is not simply to cast a show, it's to build an extraordinary company of artists. Cabaret Audition Process
Due to the ambitious nature of this production and our desire to begin the creative process now, casting may begin during the virtual audition period. Performers are strongly encouraged to submit early, as offers may be made on a rolling basis.
In-person audition dates are being held to ensure we find the strongest possible cast and may be used selectively if additional performers are needed for specific roles or ensemble tracks. Not all performers will be asked to attend an in-person audition.
Callbacks for select principal roles will be conducted by invitation and scheduled individually. Being invited to a callback does not guarantee casting, and performers may be cast with or without a callback.
Our goal is to assemble an exceptional company for what promises to be one of the most exciting productions of the season. We encourage performers to submit their strongest work as early as possible.

Boy Soprano

Male-presenting youth (approximately 10–14; unchanged voice)
Vocal Range:
Boy Soprano (approximately C4–G5) with a clear, pure treble sound and excellent pitch.
Dance:
Movement ability required. Comfortable learning choreography and working with the ensemble.
Seeking:
A poised, confident young performer with a strong stage presence and a beautifully clear singing voice. Must be able to perform the featured solo in Tomorrow Belongs to Me with sincerity, musical precision, and emotional restraint. Prior choral or classical vocal experience is a plus. MUST be okay with adult content and working with an all adult cast.

Next to Normal Audition Process
Next to Normal is, at its heart, a story about a family navigating love, loss, memory, and the complicated ways we care for one another. While the characters are written as members of the same family, we are not bound by traditional expectations of race, ethnicity, or appearance in our casting. Families are formed in many ways, and performers of all backgrounds are encouraged to audition for any role.
We are seeking the strongest storytellers, singers, and actors to bring these characters to life. We welcome performers of every race, ethnicity, culture, gender identity, sexual orientation, body type, age, ability, and lived experience. Casting will be conducted on a rolling basis. We encourage interested performers to submit early, as offers may be made prior to the final audition date. In-person auditions and callbacks will be held only as needed, with lead role callbacks conducted by invitation. The world of Next to Normal belongs to anyone who has loved deeply, struggled quietly, searched for hope, or fought to hold their family together.

General Dance Expectations
Movement is an essential storytelling element in both productions. While dance experience is not required for every role, all performers should be comfortable learning choreography and working in a movement-driven rehearsal process. Many principal roles will participate in ensemble movement and dance sequences throughout the productions.

🎵 Vocal Audition
•Please prepare one musical theatre song (60–90 seconds) that best showcases your voice and acting ability.
•Your selection may be from either show or another musical.
•Choose material that highlights your strengths.
•An accompanist WILL be provided.
•Please bring clearly labeled sheet music in the correct key.
•If needing to use a track (sheet music preferred), please make sure it is instrumental only.
•Tracks may be AirDropped, texted, or connected via Bluetooth to our speaker.

Some performers may be asked to read from sides provided at the audition. Please familiarize yourself with both shows beforehand, but there is no need to memorize any scenes.

May be asked to attend a dance call, dance callback, or be asked to dance & possibly learn a combo at initial in-person vocal audition.
