Kara is a dynamic force in the San Diego theatre community - a director, actor, producer, and piano tuner whose passion and drive make things happen. At Point Loma Playhouse, she directed First Date and The Marvelous Wonderettes and most recently produced Little Shop of Horrors and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Her directing credits also include Godspell and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Vanguard), Wait Until Dark (Lamplighters), and Steel Magnolias (Lamplighters), among others.
As a performer, Kara has appeared on stages in Utah, Oceanside, Encinitas, and throughout San Diego, most recently at Coronado Playhouse as Berthe in Pippin. A San Diego native, she is a proud alumna of the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts. She holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Brigham Young University and a Master’s in Education from National University.
Known for her tireless work ethic, professionalism, and kindness - and for somehow managing to be everywhere at once, almost always with a Diet Coke in hand, and sometimes a script, and sometimes a paintbrush - Kara brings leadership, heart, and creativity to every project she touches, enriching Point Loma Playhouse and the San Diego theatre community at large.
